NASCAR & Jesus

Did you know that at the Charlotte Speedway, the stock cars travel at around 160 -180 mph for 400 laps (600 miles) in 4 hours? Can you imagine all the preparation, time, teamwork, and resources it takes? Thankfully, NASCAR drivers don’t race alone. There is a crew chief who talks to them from the tower as they drive. There is a pit crew that helps them refuel and replace tires as they wear out.

Our college students who are starting next week are a lot like NASCAR drivers. It will take a team around them to help them find success academically, socially, financially, and most importantly, spiritually. This is where our campus ministry comes in. We are not sitting in the grandstands, but we are in the pit ready to help them prepare, adjust, and gear up. We encourage them, provide them with free food, and offer advice from the tower. We help them navigate the relationship wrecks, road hazards, and false narratives that occasionally come their way. Most importantly, we introduce them to Jesus: “...let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith" (Hebrews 12:1-2). Our goal isn’t the checkered flag of graduation but hearing the words, "Well done, good and faithful servant."
According to Barna Research Group:
About 64% of Christians say they made a commitment to Christ before age 18. Only 13% made that decision between ages 18–21 (late teens/early 20s—college age). After age 21, the percentage drops sharply.
There are 20 Million College Students in the US, and only 2% are being reached by a Christian ministry on campus.

Will you continue to pray for our students, adult leaders, student leaders, and faculty advisors?
Will you continue to partner in giving so students can hear the Gospel and be discipled?
Would you like to join us for prayer walks on a local campus and hear first-hand from students about their needs, struggles, and joys in college?

Every NASCAR driver has a sponsor that wraps their name around the car. You get to wrap each college student in the name of Jesus, lift them up in prayer and supplication, and help us reach the next generation.
Ways to Connect and Support
Facebook page: NAMB Greater Philadelphia - Campus Ministries
This is a way you can keep up to date with college events and pray for them, as they happen.
This will give you access to the blog and picture archives.
Giving and seeing the great things God is doing on the college campus is a blessing.
If you are a current partner, thanks so much!
If you are not, please pray about supporting us monthly (anywhere from $25- $100 per month).
Invite your small group or Sunday school class at church to adopt a campus ministry (Delaware Valley University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Chestnut Hill College, or Montgomery County Community College). We can set up a time to prayer walk a campus, meet students, host a dinner, or support an upcoming outreach event. Just let us know where you want to direct your focus.
