Summer 2024 Updates: Plans, Pauses, and Preparation

What are you doing with your summer?
For many of us life slows down in the summer. For me approaching summer is kind of like finishing a marathon (not that I've ever attempted a marathon). I would assume you have to will yourself to keep running those last couple of miles even though your body has given up. It reminds me of what David wrote about the Lord in Psalm 23:2-3a, “He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he refreshes my soul.” The Good Shepherd is bringing us to places of rest, peace, and refreshment. It is good to be refreshed in the Lord.
Our fall 2023 and spring 2024 semesters of ministry on the college campus was tough but we saw so many hearts turn toward Jesus, some for the first time and some for the second time. Your support and prayers have made the Gospel come alive in word and action in Greater Philadelphia college campuses. There is much more work to be done but now is a time for summer plans, pauses, and preparation.
Plans:
We are excited to once again host Bonfires and Bible Studies in our backyard this summer. This is a time of lawn games, fellowship, worship, and bible study. Oftentimes at the end of these nights, students stay and talk in the driveway late into the night.

Pauses:
After our relationship with God, we need to focus our best energy on those closest to us. Family time is our priority. Like so many who live in or near Philadelphia, we escape to the Jersey shore, go to baseball games, do small projects around the house, read some books, and cook outside on the grill. Our big event in August is a wedding. Savannah is marrying a guy she met a Millersville University, James Sullivan. Please pray that I can keep it together as I officiate the ceremony… I am not crying, you are.

Preparation:

Part of our fall preparation has already begun in attending the National Collegiate Summit. Many of my colleagues and I drove to Memphis, Tennessee, for a four-day conference of teaching, preaching, and missions-focused breakout sessions. Additionally, our Pennsylvania/South Jersey network got together in Harrisburg for a June weekend of strategic planning for the Fall 2024 semester. Student leader training starts in August when they return for the Fall semester.

We hope you are taking time this summer for family, friends, and good books. May the rest, peace, and refreshment of Jesus find you during this season as well.
Please pray as we plan, pause, and prepare. As it says in Ephesians 3:20-21, “Now to him who is able to do far more abundantly than all that we ask or think, according to the power at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations…” Our focus is specifically the next generation.
Ways to Connect and Support
Facebook page: NAMB Greater Philadelphia - Campus Ministries
This is a way you can keep up to date with college events and pray for them, as they happen.
This will give you access to the blog and picture archives.
Giving and seeing the great things God is doing on the college campus is a blessing.
If you are a current partner, thanks so much!
If you are not, please pray about supporting us monthly (anywhere from $25-$100 a month).
Invite your small group or Sunday school class at church to adopt a campus ministry (Delaware Valley University, Gwynedd Mercy University, Chestnut Hill College, or Montgomery County Community College). We can set up a time to prayer walk a campus, meet students, host a dinner, or support an upcoming outreach event. Just let us know where you want to direct your focus.
