100 Hour Rule

I recently started playing pickleball at the YMCA where the goal is to get a little exercise and not break a hip. I quickly rose through the ranks and thought I was a pretty good player. However, now that the weather is nicer I played outside at a local park. I have never lost so many games in a row. It turns out that there are pickleballers that play everyday and sometimes twice a day. They take this sport very seriously.

The same is true with our walk with Jesus. We are often surrounded by Christians that are only looking to get by in their faith: don't do anything majorly wrong and don't stand out too much. That is just enough to get by but not the way Jesus intended for us to truly live. To be more like Jesus, we need to spend more time with Jesus. Our hope and prayer is that we are in the 95% of making a difference in this world. Walking, talking, and loving like Jesus.

Every summer we challenge our students to grow in their faith through a leadership challenge. This summer we were gifted a case of Dann Spader books by his publisher: this is an amazing God thing because each book was $15.95. The students from Del Val U, Gwynedd Mercy U, Chestnut Hill, and Montco quickly signed up for the challenge. As I started the book a couple of weeks ahead of them, I quickly realized that this is going to be tough. The book is good but requires so much Bible research and deep thought. We are covering topics like how Jesus was intentional in relationships, in unwavering obedience, in steadfast prayer, in dependence upon the Holy Spirit, and in multiplying disciples. We are going to uncover the ways we too can walk like Jesus. Simple right?  Haha. This requires not hard work but consistent time in the presence of Jesus.

My hope and prayer is that college students, you, and I can commit to doing whatever it takes (at least 18 minutes a day)!

Thanks for your prayers - lift up our college/ universities in Greater Philadelphia!

We are praying for you - Happy 4th of July!
