2021 Light and Darkness

This past week, our students from Montco have been preparing a joint Martin Luther King Jr. event with other clubs and local churches. This year's theme is "light and darkness.” Of course, we took full advantage of sharing all the Bible verses where God talks about His light and spiritual darkness.
I John 1:5-7: “This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him there is no darkness.”
Psalm 119:105: “Your word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path.”
2 Corinthians 4:6: “For God, who said, 'Let light shine out of darkness,' has shone in our hearts to give light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.”
John 8:12: "Again, Jesus spoke to them, saying, 'I am the light of the world. Whoever follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life.”
I am reminded of New Year's Eve when I was hosting a Passion Conference watch party. We were inspired by messages from Matt Chandler, Tim Tebow, and Louie Giglio. We worshipped into the night with Chris Tomlin, David Crowder, and the Passion City Band. It was such an amazing time of worship and truth… At 11:40 PM, I switched over to the network TV and they were showing celebrations around the world with lots of alcohol, half-dressed women, and inappropriate music. What a contrast.
My heart was torn between light and darkness, loving Jesus, and loving the world. With 2021 starting off the way it is, we need to be so much more diligent in spending time with God every day so we can know the difference between the Kingdom of heaven and the kingdom of this world.
Please pray for our students as they navigate this MLK Day event and their faith on the campus. Thanks so much for your support in 2020! We look forward to sharing Jesus on campus and virtually in 2021! We could not share the message of Hope and Light without You!
