In early September 2021, Hurricane Ida rolled through Pennsylvania like a freight train. This storm caused so much wind and flood damage, it even set off some 150 mph tornado’s. Lots of homes were damaged and destroyed. This past week I was able to lead 9 college students from Montco and Del Val U on their spring break to York, PA for some relief work.
Jesus says in John 13:34, “A new commandment I give unto you, That you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.” We partnered with the SBC Send Relief Network, the #LovePASJ campaign, and the Baptist Resource Network to go down and serve. Our group, along with 15 others from Penn State and Clarion, worked on two homes with severe flood damage. I was surprised that it wasn’t caused by a rising stream or lake but just by the 3 to 4 inches of rain that happened each hour. This, as you can imagine, caused lots of basement damage. We were able to re-mortar cracks in the walls, dry lock, install new windows, put in new insulation, drywall, and paint.
God is so good... we were able to make a difference but also to get to know the home owners and share our faith through relationships and prayer. More than that, our group bonded in times of worship, devotions, and fun games. Your support enables these kinds of trips to happen. We are so thankful that you share a part in rebuilding homes and lives in Jesus name. You are loving others as God has loved you. Thanks for your generosity and friendship.
Please pray for the following:
Our college student missions and ministry at Delaware Valley University, Montgomery County Community College, and Chestnut Hill College
Families we served in York, PA
Our outreach and evangelism programs and opportunities as the weather gets nicer; We will be leading icebreaker games on the quad
