“It is OK Mom, we are wearing masks."

Well, our Spring Semester of ministry is finally over.
I really feel for college students who had to quickly adjust to online learning. Thankfully, we kept our biblical community going over social media. Zoom kept us going with weekly bible study, worship, game nights, and prayer times. My MCCC crew decided we would have a “trunk party” at the end of the semester, which turned into a “Wentz Park Party.” We laid out our chairs and blankets 6 feet apart and then slowly more students came and filled in the gaps: our circle became bigger and bigger. Eventually, football and frisbee games started up and I was the person who kept saying "Use your hand sanitizer!”
It is so hard for us to keep a “social distance” when you truly care for others. God has been good to us despite this pandemic. We created an atmosphere of love and acceptance. At this gathering, we even had a Wiccan witch who I was able to befriend. Thankfully, I got to sit down and hear some of her story and she was able to hear worship songs with a ukulele and see how Christian friends care for one another. Later, on social media, I saw this picture of my guys. The caption read, “It is OK Mom, we are wearing masks."
I am so, so thankful for you, my partners in ministry, and for college ministry.
Hebrews 10:23-25 says, "Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching."
During these days, we have a couple of things to hold on to:
Our hope in Christ Jesus.
God’s faithfulness.
Christian community.
Meeting together.
Mutual encouragement.
The Day that Jesus comes back.
Join me in thanking God for all these things and more. Also if you meet up with your friends in the park, don’t forget to wear the mask!
