There is a song that encapsulates our calling on the college campus that becomes especially true at the end of the semester. Have you ever heard or read the lyrics from Anne Wilson’s song, My Jesus?
Are you past the point of weary?
Is your burden weighin' heavy?
Is it all too much to carry?
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
Do you feel that empty feeling?'
Cause shame's done all its stealin'
And you're desperate for some healin'
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my JesusAnd let my Jesus change your life
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah,
Amen Amen
Who can wipe away the tears
From broken dreams and wasted years
And tell the past to disappear?
Oh Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And all the wrong turns that you would
Go and undo if you could
Who can work it all for your good
Let me tell you about my Jesus
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah,
Amen, Amen, Amen
Who would take my cross to Calvary?
Pay the price for all my guilty?
Who would care that much about me?
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus, oh
He makes a way where there ain't no way
Rises up from an empty grave
Ain't no sinner that He can't save
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
His love is strong and His grace is free
And the good news is I know that He
Can do for you what He's done for me
Let me tell you 'bout my Jesus
And let my Jesus change your life
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah,
Amen, Amen
Hallelujah Hallelujah Hallelujah
Let my Jesus change your life
There are a lot of trying times and great thought-provoking questions and no matter what, the answer is the same, Let me tell you about my Jesus. If you have an 18-24 year old child or remember those years, those can be trying times. As a parent who has three kids that fit into this category and serves on three college campuses, my answer is always Jesus.
This weekend we are celebrating Easter: the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus. This brings so many opportunities to talk about the empty tomb, heaven, forgiveness from our sin, peace with God, and so much more. You have lots of family, friends, and coworkers with whom you can share Jesus. As difficult questions are asked or hard times come, remember what God has done for you, and then just share your story. I often attach a bible verse of promise to the story and ask the Holy Spirit to do His work.
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our affliction, so that we may be able to comfort those who are in any affliction, with the comfort with which we ourselves are comforted by God." -II Corinthians 1:3-4
Thanks so much for your prayers and support as we bring the Gospel to students on the college campus. Please pray for:
Our student leaders, coaches, teachers, and staff as they grow in their faith and lead in a Christian manner.
God’s favor in the activities and events we run for college students.
