Tabling 101

What is tabling? Not many have heard of it. Tabling is one of those terms that can mean a couple of different things. The most common definition is probably "promising to come back to a topic or issue in the future." We use the word in the campus ministry setting as quite the opposite. We are putting an issue or topic out in the center of activity to talk about it right now.

With our college and universities in Greater Philadelphia, we are bringing the Gospel right to the forefront of conversation. We put a table out in the middle of foot traffic so we can engage as many as possible. This fall, we have done tables at Montco College and Del Val University. We table with sports games and engaging conversation, free giveaways of snacks, free water bottles, free prayer, and soularium, which is a way to share the Good News of Jesus through pictures. So far we have seen around 7 students pray the prayer of salvation and had lots of Gospel conversations.

The key is to be consistent in the same spot every week. Students are now looking for us to see what we are doing each week. Nothing is without its downsides.  Some of the tracks or bible verses we put on the free giveaways end right in trash, but this will not deter us.  We do what God is calling us to do, standing in the gap for this generation and sharing the love of Jesus.

Thanks so much for your support and prayers - we can't do this without you. Please pray for a big outreach event we have at Montco this upcoming Monday. Please pray for our November fall retreat, for lots of students to grow in faith and give lives to Christ.
