Thankful for College Students

This past week was met with a barrage of thankfulness, as I was reaching out to students and hearing back their words of thankfulness. But one stuck out more than the others.
Unfortunately, the Covid-19 cases at Del Val University have gone up and students were dismissed for Thanksgiving break early. As a result, our weekly bible study was cancelled. Well, one student athlete had just returned to campus following a 10 day quarantine. He didn’t know that bible study was canceled and was curious why everyone was gone. I was the bearer of the bad news and updated him on the latest Covid-19 news on campus. He then he asked me, “What was the message you had planned?"
He and I got to do a one-on-one impromptu bible study. It was clear that his life was riddled with uncertainty and that he desired to hear some truth. Over the phone, I affirmed him of God’s love and care for him, the team and his family. We then prayed together and talked of spending some time together over break.
This college generation, Gen Z-ers, as they are called, are hungry for the Truth. Jesus says, “I am the way, the truth and the life…" He says, "... know the truth and the truth will set you free.” The desire for this student to hear “the message that was planned” and to know more about Jesus is what I am thankful for this season.
Thanks so much for your partnership in the ministry at Delaware Valley University. Please continue to pray as they have had 79 total cases and 20 current cases.
Happy Thanksgiving!
